Frankfurt, 25 June 2018 – Fosun has announced the candidates for the next phase of Protechting together with the portfolio companies Fidelidade, Luz Saúde and Hauck & Aufhäuser. In total, 12 startups, six Healtechs (MEDICSEN, SKINSOUL, CRIAMTECH, CARDIAMO, BAYLIFETECH, TMASS), three Insurtechs (HUMANOO, RNTERS, GISTEK) and three Fintechs (COPSONIC, SPIN ANALYTICS, WALL-I) will move into the next round of Protechting. Hauck & Aufhäuser is now looking forward to working with a total of three startups over the next three months on the further development of its business model: COPSONIC, SPIN ANALYTICS, and WALL-I. This marks the start of the third phase of the accelerator program.
By the end of April this year, a total of 157 startups from 32 countries with their business ideas from the Healthtech, Insurtech and Fintech areas had applied for the Accelerator program. A total of 100 start-ups were then allowed to present their business model to a jury of the project's partner companies. 22 young entrepreneurs were then invited to the one-week boot camp in Lisbon, at the end of which the start-ups were invited to present their business models to a top-class jury of partner companies in a five-minute pitch.
"We founded Protechting together with Fidelidade three years ago. Since then Portugal has developed into a popular start-up country. More and more successful young entrepreneurs are finding their origin here; more and more partners are joining the program," explains Li Haifeng, Senior Vice-President of Fosun. For the circle of partners has also continued to grow. Luz Saúde has intensified its commitment to Protechting this year. Hauck & Aufhäuser is playing an active role in the project for the first time.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to participate in this year's edition of Protechting alongside Fosun, Fidelidade and Luz Saúde. For Hauck & Aufhäuser, this project not only offers the opportunity to support young companies, but also enables us to look for possible additions to our own business model and to further expand our strategic pillars of digitization and internationalization," adds Michael Bentlage, CEO of Hauck & Aufhäuser.
A total of 22 startups from 10 different countries, namely Germany, China, Spain, USA, Finland, France, Mozambique, Ukraine, Great Britain and Portugal, took part in the Bootcamp in Portugal, during which they had the opportunity to work with representatives of the partner companies on the business model and to sound out initial points of contact with the companies' existing business models. The winners will now enter a three-month pilot phase with the partner companies.
The best projects are rewarded with a tour through China and gain access to Fosun and its associated companies. Furthermore, the best business model will receive a prize of 10,000 euros. In addition, as part of the partnership between Fosun and the government of Shangai, the winners will be able to take part in the "Chuang Qingchun" – Shanghai Youth Innovation & Entrepreneurship Contest. Therefore, up to three startups will travel to Shanghai in September.
